Green Hydrogen Solutions’ East London IDZ Project Highlighted in the 2026 South African Green Hydrogen Deal Book
Cape Town – September 15, 2026 – Green Hydrogen Solutions (GHS) is proud to announce the inclusion of the GHS Green Hydrogen ELIDZ project located in the East London Industrial Development Zone (ELIDZ) as one of six ventures featured in the inaugural South African Green Hydrogen Deal Book. The Deal Book is officially launched today at the Africa Green Hydrogen Summit in Cape Town (September 15–16, 2026), coinciding with the announcement of the First Wave of Projects assessed through the PtX Project Development Standard (PtX PDS).
"Being selected as one of the flagship ventures in the inaugural South African Green Hydrogen Deal Book is a powerful validation of our team's rigorous engineering and commercial strategy," said Ebrahim Takolia, Chief Executive Officer of Green Hydrogen Solutions. "We are proud to present a de-risked, investment-ready platform that bridges the gap between clean energy ambition and tangible industrial reality."
Recognized officially as a Strategic Integrated Project (SIP), the ELIDZ Green Hydrogen Project represents an advanced, investment-ready platform designed to drive industrial decarbonisation and regional energy security in South Africa. Sized optimally as a 10 MW green hydrogen production facility backed by a 20 MW solar PV array, the project provides a de-risked pathway to replace carbon-intensive fossil fuels like Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and diesel with clean, market-ready energy.
The project demonstrates exceptional commercial maturity, positioning itself less than six months away from Final Investment Decision (FID). Requiring a total capital expenditure of US$81 million, the facility is structured on a disciplined 70/30 debt-to-equity financing model, targeting an attractive equity Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of approximately 15% to 17% with a rapid six-year payback period.
Commercial viability is further reinforced by domestic offtake commitments targeting 10-year terms across the automotive, chemical, packaging, food processing, and battery manufacturing sectors.
Risk mitigation has been a core priority throughout the development lifecycle. Full Environmental Authorisation for the plant was formally granted in October 2025, and Major Hazard Installation notifications are complete. Furthermore, project land has been successfully leased within the ELIDZ, leveraging existing infrastructure including the Leaches Bay substation for electricity access and an operational seawater pump station for desalination feeds.
The launch of the South African Green Hydrogen Deal Book marks a pivotal milestone for the nation's clean energy economy. Green Hydrogen Solutions invites investors, industry partners, and stakeholders attending the Africa Green Hydrogen Summit to explore the ELIDZ project profile (https://greenh2s.com/elidz-project), engage with our team, and join us in shaping a sustainable industrial future.
"As we approach Final Investment Decision, this milestone marks a pivotal moment for our commercial deployment," stated Takolia. "We look forward to engaging with forward-thinking investors and partners at the summit who share our vision for a secure, net-zero industrial corridor."
